Political, Ethnic and Tribal African Maps 1800-Present (High School)
||Empires and Imperialism, Geography Matters, Learning with Maps
Maps have many different purposes. Political maps convey territory associated with the established boundaries of states, countries, and continents. Maps may also provide information on other types of groupings, by language, ethnic background, or tribe. By exploring maps of same area with two different purposes, the viewer may be able to note the multiple identities of those who reside in these areas. Finally, the symbols that a cartographer uses convey subtle attitudes about the time and place.
