Overview

Sudan has long been one of the poorest countries in the world. Oil was discovered in the southern portion of the country in the1970s. The ability to participate in the global energy economy in the last decade has changed a great deal for some members of the country. In a true economic sense, there are costs and benefits to developing Sudan’s oil industry.
